Cherish Birdie Card ***Do You Stack Up**

I was chosen to be the GDT for this weeks challenge at Do you Stack Up (DYSU), WOW!!

I had tons of fun playing with this cute little birdie image and the colors orange, yellow, and brown.  I just came back from CK convention and one of the classes I took was using these great new pencils and water color blending tools, so I had to use them on the little birds.  I also picked up some great new stamps from heartfelt Creations, and I had to use them too!!

So head on over to DYSU and join in the fun!!

One the techniques I used here was to stamp my swirl pattern with my new HC stamps and then go over the swirls with stickles to give it that fun glittery effect.  I also loved the idea of the softness of the glitter with the hardness of the burlap ribbon, made a nice contrast.

Enjoy!!

Beach Trip ***Sketches in Thyme***

It's time for the 3rd and final challenge for the month of July at Sketches in Thyme, and this one is an Open Challenge! Now, how does an open challenge work, you ask? It's easy to play along! Just link up a new creation you've made for this challenge using ANY SKETCH, try out a sketch from a favorite blog or maybe create your own. As long as you use a sketch you can enter the challenge!!

So head on over to Sketches in Thyme and load up your sketch!!

I used this great sketch from Creating Keepsakes Magazine and made the fun beach page from our family trip to Galveston in June.

I did some fun techniques here.  One was to use strips of paper and punch the edges and roll them up to create the "wave" effect at the bottom of the pages.  I then added some cute little fish and other sea animals in the "waves" for a bit of fun.

Somewhere over the rainbow ***Frosted Designs***

There is a wonderful challenge over at Frosted Designs right now...............use buttons!!!  So head on over and play away!!

For my take on this challenge I used black buttons as anchors for the strips of paper.  I saw this idea of colored strips as a rainbow on a layout over in a big online gallery, and I had to lift it!!  I also made the flowers using the twisted rose technique (one of my first attempts at these flowers).

The pic is of my daughter Kristen.  This picture was taken the day before she died (very sudden of SIDS) at 4 months old.  My mother took this photo of her, and I am so glad that she did, as it is the last memory I have of her right before she died.  I picked the title that "We will meet again somewhere over the rainbow" to give me hope that I will someday when my time hear on earth is done get to see my baby girl again.  I miss her so much.  I journaled this info around the pic on the pebble paper, as to partly hide the info, but also to be seen and read if you want, as it is an emotional topic.

I love you baby girl, never forgotten and always missed!!

Welcome to Our First Birthday Ice Cream on The Beach Blog Hop

I’m so happy that you stopped by, if you came here from Kristin's Blog you are in the right place if not please stop by Frosted Design were the Hop starts.

You need to know this to enter to win the grand prize: Do you like to listen to music while you scrap, if so what kind? I would love to listen to music when I scrap, but alas I do my scrapping after my little ones go to bed, so I need to keep a ear open if they wake up, and my littlest one always does, but if I could listen to music it would have to be a mix of rock, pop, and metal!!

Make sure you jot it down and email danica4us@yahoo.com once you have all the answers.

I’m giving away a fun little RAK!!

To win my RAK please:
1) leave a comment on this post
2) become a follower of my blog (let me know if you are new or already a follower in your post)
3) let me know if there are any tips, tricks, or tutorials you would like to see me post in the future

Post by July 11, midnight CST to be in for the random drawing of my RAK!!

For this week’s challenge at Frosted Design (Recipe Challenge: Ribbon/trim, charm, rhinestones/pearls summer celebration (beach, pool, birthday, picnic, etc.) I used a picture of our family at the beach in June.  I saw this great idea for a picture, take a picture of the feet.  I did not have to worry if everyone was looking at the camera, if someone's eyes were closed, or how I looked in the picture, plus and it was fast and easy to do.  I have 2 little boys (1 and 5) so to get them to pose for a picture is a nightmare, so this little idea was my solution to the family picture (plus I did not have to find someone or worry about a tripod to get everyone in the picture).

Truth be told I have never used a charm on a layout before, then I thought about my little charm bracelet that was tucked away in my jewelry box from high school (it had cheap little charms on it, and I never wear it).  On it I found this little dolphin, so on the page it went!!  I now has a fun little use instead of collecting dust in a box.  I then used some fun shiny string to tie the charm to the chipboard button and viola done, charm and trim done)!!

On to the pearls, I chose pearls over rhinestones mostly because of the beach connection, oysters and pearls!!  Now we did not see any oysters or have any to eat, but they really just worked much better over all, especially with the glitter floral parts I sued for seaweed on the page.  These "faux" seaweed strands were from Michaels in their after Christmas sale.  It was in the bins with all the floral decor, they had tons of glittery shiny stuff for about $.10 a bunch.  I bought all different shapes, colors, and textures.  I used parts of 3 that I found that worked just perfect for this.  It is always so fun to used found objects on pages!!

Thanks for looking and reading, now for you to hop along to the next person in the blog hop Amanda.

If you get lost here is the full list of all the blog on the hop.
