DIY Candy Apple Jars

Fall is coming and with fall we have apples, harvest, turning leaves (well not here in Texas but other places of the world), and pumpkins.  I love to play with the idea of food as art, and for this idea I made little apples out of jars and filled them with candy in red or green to look like little red and green apples.  I like to give these as gifts for the kids teachers, but it could also be used for a party favor, home decor item, table setting item for Thanksgiving, the ideas are endless!!

Here is a full video tutorial on how I made these fun little apple jars.

I used some of the amazing Tattered Angels Stained Glass and Glimmer Glam paints to make the glass change color, then some Makin's Clay for the leave and stem at the top, and to hold it all together some Beacon 3 in 1 glue.

Happy Fall Y'all as they say here in Texas!

Creeper Zipper Pulls **Makin's Clay & Beacon**

My kids love Minecraft and anything about Minecraft, so I thought I would make them some fun zipper pulls for their backpack zippers in the shape of Creepers!!

They turned out so cute and perfect for a little backpack bling!!  I used a ton of Makin's clay clays, tools, and all.  Check out the Makin's Clay blog for full details!!

Here is also a video tutorial on how to make these fun little guys.

Did you know that Beacon 3 in 1 can also act like a top coat resin in a pinch?    To seal the top and fill in all the little gaps of the creeper faces I took some of the 3 in 1 glue and spread it all around to make a thick coat.  It worked like a charm!!  Amazing glue!!

Bee Beautiful Mixed Media Book **DCC Hop w/ Rebekah Meier**

Rebekah Meier graciously gave 12 Designer Craft Connection artists one of her new kits to play with and show what they can do.  I received the Mini Paper Quilt Kit - Stitch-n-Tear Technique.  Now, I did not follow the instruction for the kit, I did use all the items, but I went my own way - I am such a rebel!  I am in a mini book phase, they are so fun to make and just a chance to try fun techniques and get my hands all paint covered!!!

Here is the unboxing video of all the yummy products I got to work with from Rebekah Meier - these kits are available at her ETSY store and at select Michaels craft stores.

My inspiration for this mini book was her stencils ad kit, I kept seeing a bee/bug and I thought Bee Beautiful, would be wonderful for a title and then I went with the theme of yellow and black.  From there it just took on a life of its own.  I used a ton of Tattered Angels paints and mists along with some various mediums with Rebekah's stencils from The Crafter's Workshop.  I then added in some fun background stamps from Paper Wings Productions to help enhance the feel of the book.  Here is the first video which is filled with the cutting of the pages, mists, painting, stenciling, stamping, and a fun technique with the EZ Steam II material and glitter, embossing powder, and flower soft to add a great dimension and texture to the page.

From here I added in a few pictures of my little girl form this year, not many just there is room for more as the year goes along.  I also added in some fun bling, brads, and other little gems from Eyelet Outlet to enhance the entire effect.  I did not want to cover the pages up too much, I love the effect I got from all the mists, stamps, and stencils.

Here are some close up shots of some of the pages.

Now make sure you pop ob over to the DCC blog and check out all the other designers and their creations from the Rebekah Meier kits.  A little birdy told me there is even a prize - look below!!!

Vintage Faux Camera Mixed Media Mini Book **Canvas Corp & Tattered Angels & Dare 2B Artzy & Deflecto**

I got a chance to play with a couple of great companies and their products.  One is Canvas Corp Brands (I am on the Creative Team and also their Top Angel, but I LOVE their products) and the other is Dare 2B Artzy.  I got a couple of their acrylic stamps and ink to play with.  My box of supplies was all about red, France, vacation, and creativity.  So where could I got wrong?!?  I decided to make a mini booth with the supplies given, plus a few more from my stash.

Here is all the supplies I got to play with in an unboxing video.

Here is my video tutorial for how I made this fun mixed media mini book, and when it was all done on the Deflecto Mini Stand (pic below) it looked like those old fashioned cameras.  I just loved how it turned into something even better than I imagined!!

Craft Organization - Wafer Thin Die Storage **Deflecto & Beacon**

My wafer thin metal storage is a mess and I desperately needed to organize it so I could find my dies and actually use them!!  They were in such a huge mess that I hated to delve into the stash and find the one to use since they would just spill on to the floor when I opened my cabinet.  So here is my way to fix this problem so I can find the die I want to use and not break the bank on a way to store them!!

I used a couple of different methods to store the dies, but the main idea is to use a thick cardstock with a Deflecto magnetic sheet glued to it with Beacon Power Tac glue and slip these magnetic sheets into a plastic Deflecto pouch (or when I ran out a plastic wrapper the dies came in) and then place the pouches in a Heidi Swapp Memory book I had laying around.

Check out my full video tutorial on how I made this DIY Wafter Thin Die Storage below!

Now I can find my dies very easily so I will use them more and also store them on a shelf and they look pretty and not just a giant mess!!

I can even store my stamps and dies that work together in one pouch!!!  Double win!!

I am hosting a 700 subscriber prize for my YouTube channel - all you need to do is
1) comment on the DIY Wafer Thin Die Storage Video
2) subscribe to my channel (link HERE).

Please comment that you are interested in the prize and that you are a subscriber!!  Open to EVERYONE and ALL COUNTRIES.  Prize is various dies and other fun crafty goodies!!
