Torn Apart - "Blue" Art Journal Page - Art Therapy

There are times in your life that art is the only release, even when you do not even realize it is a release for you until after it is complete.  Art can be one of the best forms of therapy out there.

This art journal page is in a journal from Tina Walker, and the entire book is all about blue.  I have had it for a little bit of time, not really sure what I was going to do in it for a while, and then about 1-2 weeks ago I started forming my plan for my page.  I also go the amazing chance to work with TCW, using their stencils and mediums to create this page.  I knew my project as a guest designer for TCW was to go live on Oct 31, and even agreed to this date over 2 months ago, after all it is only a date and my project will be done well before the actually release date, but as I watched my video editing it for YouTube, I realize my subconscious is desperately seeking a release even if my conscious is not fully aware of what is happening.

My late daughter’s birthday was yesterday, she passed away at the age of 4 months very unexpectedly, and to this day her birthday (she would be 9 years old) and angel day are the hardest days I have to endure.  Art has saved me, the release into a world of paint and mediums is my release of my anger, frustration, sadness, longing, and hurt.  Everyone always says that art can be the best therapy out there, and even when you are not fully aware of what your heart needs at that moment the art can speak for you, give you that release.

As I watch the progression of my art journal in edit mode while doing my video I see the happy circles of my life and my family, and in that next moment I cut my art in sections, fragment it all into bits.  I take those circles and cut them in half, place them upside down and have no semblance of reason, like what happened to my family all those years ago.

My heart breaks for all those of you who have lost a child in any way, in womb or after.  That child still is apart of us,  she or he is not here and we all remember that day our heart was fractured and never fully healed.  I must stay strong for my family, for myself, for my other children, for if I let this sadness over take me I will never return.  Art is my therapy, and is has been since they day she left my arms.

Happy Birthday Kristen

I found some amazing Christmas supplies at my local Dollar Tree perfect for making some cute ornaments!!  Here are 3 EASY ornaments that you can make using some very simple supplies mostly found at your local Dollar Tree or Dollar Tree on-line.

**I was compensated for this post. This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links**

Here is a video tutorial on how to make all three easy and fun ornaments.

Most supplies are from Dollar Tree, a great way to make some great ornaments at a low cost.  You can even buy them on-line and have free shipping if you pick up at your local store, and best part is the minimum quality is usually only 3, how amazing!!!

The first ornament is the star using some paperclips, red gems, twine, and glue.  That is it, so easy and super fast.  Perfect for kids to make.  For full details please see the video.

Next we have a fun little candy cane turned in a farmhouse style cane complete with some cute little bells.  Only 6 supplies needed to make this fun little ornament!!  For full detail please see the video.

Last we have a beautiful mixed media ball ornament that is so easy to make, and truly stunning!!  This only takes 6 supplies for this ornament too!!  A perfect little gift for anyone special in your lift this Christmas!  For full details please see the video.

Handmade Christmas Treat Bags

I love to make little gift for friends, family, and my kids teachers.  This is just beginning of the season of giving, so I need to get a jump start on little presents I pass out during the holidays.  Here is a set of treat bags I made to put little gift cards, hot chocolate, and maybe some fun little candies in to pass out.

Here is a video tutorial on how to make these fun treat bags.

I love the ColorBox® Petal Point® ink, it has a range of colors that allow you to make so many different projects all with one ink set, plus they pull apart for easy application!!!!!  I only used 2 colors for this project, the old rose and midnight from the Sunset box, but now I have a set of colors ready for the next project!!  I used the inks to add an edge of color to some of the bags and all of the papers. I also stamps the cute little stars on the bags with the slate color.

I love to add layers to my projects and using the XyronⓇ Creative Station Lite with the permanent adhesive cartridge.  I placed all the papers and burlap into the machine to turn everything into a sticker so making all these treat bags was super fast and easy!!!

Thanks for stopping by, and try making a few little treat for your friend and family this holiday!!
