DIY Canvas and Burlap Stick Horses with Matching Bandanna and Cowboy Hats

My son has a rodeo day coming up at school and part of his "homework" for kindergarten is to make a stick hobby horse and dress up as a cowboy for the day festivities!  Now I could make a simple horse with a yardstick and a cutout head from paper, but I wanted something that he could play with for more than just one day!  I kept seeing all these "sock" horses on line doing my research as to what I could make for him and that sparked the idea of using the burlap stocking I had in my stash for the past 3 years!!  To me burlap and cowboys are a perfect match!!

I then gathered and ordered more materials from Canvas Corp and realized the Ticking line is a perfect match for the cowboy look, and since I am at it (and to prevent fights) make one for my daughter too!  So I bought tons of supplies in blue and pink (their favorite colors) and set out to make horses!!  Here is the video on how to make these sweet horses!!

My kids loved playing the the finished products, and not only did I make the horses, but I dressed up some hats we have had in our house for a while and made cute little matching bandannas.

My son in his blue hat, bandanna and horse.  He would not stop talking about it all day!!

Never one to be left out, my little girl loves to get in the mix.  Good news is she will need the horse in 2 years for her rodeo day at school.  Now it is all done!!

Don't they just look too cute with the little matching outfits and horses!?!?  I know I am their mom ........ I am a little biased :)

My sweet kids playing with their new horses and dressing up as cowboys and cowgirls!!

They are getting a little tired of mom taking pictures, so lets make some silly faces to lighten up the mood!!  Now for rodeo day!!

***UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER***

So now 2 years later Cat is ready to use her horse, hat, and bandanna for her Kinder rodeo day!  I decided to add a little something to her hat (after I learned from her brother's rodeo 2 years ago) to add her name to her hat in case it got lost!  Joy Letters to the recuse!!

I added her name "CAT' to the side without the flower with Supertite Fabric Tack glue and it worked amazing!!  Here is a video on how easy it is to fix her hat!!

She had a blast at her rodeo day and after 2 years of dress up play at home the horses looks good as new from when I made them for the 1st rodeo day 2 years ago!!

Amazing how a few little letters makes all the difference to make her hat and horse even more personal!!

DIY Farmhouse Etched Mini Vase Decor

My daughter loves to bring me little flowers she collects when she plays outside, but I do not have any vases small enough for her to place them in, so I decided to make one!

Here is a video on how to make this fun project.

I started with a plank of cedar wood that I drilled holes into and a few mini green bottles I had kept just because they were so cute!

I started out by etching the bottle with Etchall Dip n Etch liquid.  I wanted the bottles to have a weathered look like they have been tumbled in the ocean for a while.  It only takes 15 minutes of soaking to go from a glossy to etched and gives them the most amazing tumbled look.

I then added a bit of the jute rope to the top of each bottle with the Supertite Multi-Grab 360 glue to give each bottle a rustic look.

I the attached the bottles to the plank with the Suptertite glue and added a rope to the bottom of the jars to match the top.

I love the look of the bottles on the plank and the jars attached a perfect little place for my daughter to add her flowers when she picks them.

What would you make with mini glass bottles?

Felt Party Supplies - DIY Felt Princess Crown & Cupcake Planner and Hair Clips

My daughter and I found the cutest little felt crown and she wanted one of her own!!  So out came the felt and we figured out how to make a fun little crown perfect for her 6th birthday party!

Here is the video on how I made this fun princess Kunin Felt crown.

You can pick any headband to fit the crown on, but I loved the look of the crown sitting on her head that made it look like it was floating due to the clear headband.

I just loved how this turned out, and she has not stopped wearing it for days!

The best part about this crown is you can make it any color and for any age you want!!  I am tempted to make an adult one for me!!

Since I had the felt out I also made a few party favors, so cupcakes to the rescue!!

I had some cute cupcake dies and since felt cuts beautifully why not make them into cute clips.  I added a few fun gems on the cupcakes to act like sprinkles and a line of gems to separate the sections of the cupcakes with Supertite Instant Super Glue.
